Story

The Leowyn people were descendents of the Angwhim-Nahmdren, who long ago lived in the grasp of a tyrannical deity known as the Ancient Father. In secret, a small group of slaves constructed a ship to carry them away. With the wrath of the Ancient Father at their heels they sailed west.

They discovered a green country with rolling hills and mountainous crags, and there they founded the Leowyn Kingdom. While digging the foundations of what would become The Castle Iridine, workers discovered a subterranean hollow, and within they discovered a mana wellspring.

Such great power tends to stir greed, and it did not go unnoticed for long. The Ashidians, a cruel people from the west, heard rumors of the great power and longed to have it. Peasant villages, ever eastward, fell and before long they had come to Summerfound.

The Ashidians, were no match for the Leowyns, and were soon utterly destroyed. Soon after their victory, men began to die from an unknown illness.

It was found that the mana brought with it an incurable taint. The passage to the Mana Well was sealed, never to be opened again except in the greatest hour of need, and the Leowyn Kingdom forgot the ways of magic.

The most loyal and trusted servant of the Leowyn royal family, Haliphen is seemingly immortal and has been a councilor of the Leowyn Kingdom since it began.

Little is known about him, for few are close to him; he traditionally mentors and councils the kings and their heirs, but he has shown exceptional interest in Princess Morning.

It is clear that he foresees some great purpose or task that Morning will fulfill, and as such he has mentored her passionately since she was born.

The Leowyn Guard protect The Castle Iridine with their lives. There has been peace since The Last Great War except for minor civil unrest over the decades.

The Leowyn Army has been disbanded for hundreds of years, and not a single Leowyn citizen even fears an attack in these days of peace.

Princess Morning, daughter of King Daerid and Queen Anoa, she is destined to rule the Leowyn Kingdom. She has grown in a time of peace and prosperity where war is a thing of the past. In accordance with ancient customs, Morning has been mentored by The Great Wizard Haliphen and has basic knowledge in the ways of old.

In the battle to come Morning will play the chief role as defender of the Leowyn Kingdom. In a time of great need she will don the armor of her ancestor The Sorceress Heona, and take up her sword in the fight against invasion.

She must open herself to the ancient ways of magic to gain the power to crush her enemies, but in doing so she will tempt fate, and perhaps at last, she may fall into darkness like her ancestors before her.

The Mana Well lies in the ruined atrium under the foundations of The Castle Iridine. It was fist discovered by the folk of The Lost Region, and with its power they built a great city under the plains of Summerfound.

Before long it was discovered that the manaquifer had seeped into a vein of lead which brought a tainted the mana. The folk of The Lost Region fell victim to mana poisoning and their city became a desolate graveyard where evil things dwelt.

It was this same well that the Leowyn people discovered when they settled on Summerfound. They too grew mighty from it's power, and so also began to fall into darkness; but instead the ruined atrium was sealed and never again would the mana be used except in the greatest hour of need.

Deep under the plains of Summerfound lies the undead city of the Lost Region. Once a great civilization they were masters of magic, but the fatal tainting of the manaquifer brought about their doom.

All who died from the mana poisoning were reanimated by it, and these undead corpses feasted on last few survivors, and so brought about the grizzly end. These horrors still wander the dark hollows, awaiting any who would dare enter.

The king and his councilors committed themselves to the grave, rather than fall prey to the mana, or it's servants. But the prince, who would not take his father's council, stayed till the bitter end, and in his death he rose again as the undead captain to the Segmendrada.

The Ashidian people live in the Ashen Lands of the west, where the ground burns from volcanic fissures. They are a cruel people who desire power and move to conquer through strength of arms. It was thought that the Ashidians were destroyed in The Last Great War, but some escaped into the mountains and established a new kingdom in the north.

Over time they again grew in power and strength, and longed to repay the Leowyn people for their near defeat. They delved and discovered lesser manaquifers in the north, which aided in their return to power, and have since mustered an army to launch an assault on The Castle Iridine in hope to bring about the end of The Leowyn Kingdom.

The Eastern Ashidian Army is led by the fearsome general, Rhajad Rhul who wields magic greater than any other, so it is said. Even now they march eastward across the desolate plains, ever eastward to Summerfound.

High commander of The Eastern Ashidian Army, General Rhajad Rhul has orders to capture The Leowyn Kingdom and kill the royal family. He has in his service many spies which have helped to bring about this attack, and the people of The Castle Iridine will be caught unprepared.

Gaining rank through his cruelty and proficiency in magic, Rhajad Rhul is a fearsome enemy and it is thought that none of the Leowyn Guard can withstand him. It is known to him that the line of Heona is still unbroken, but the knowledge of magic and war has left the Leowyn people, so who among them would stand a chance?
